The MPO has submitted a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Grant to the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) for its Regional Complete Streets Initiative. If awarded, the grant would help fund $19.1 million dollars worth of bike and pedestrian improvements in the cities of Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale Lakes, Oakland Park, and Pompano Beach.

MPO and County Reach Tentative Deal on Transportation Tax
At Thursday’s Broward MPO Board Meeting, the Board voted in favor of moving forward with the outline of a plan to place a penny sales tax referendum on the November ballot. This would allow the voters of Broward to vote on increasing the sales tax by one percent to pay for transportation improvements throughout the region.

Job Opening at the Broward MPO- Transportation Planner
The Broward MPO is hiring a transportation planner, preferably someone with Transportation Disadvantaged experience. This is professional and technical planning work assisting with major MPO programs, projects or plans such as: long range, short range and regional transportation planning; transportation improvement programming; congestion management and corridor planning; multimodal planning; transportation land use planning; and administrative support to meet other state and federal requirements.
