Pembroke Pines Center Turn Overpass Plans are in the Works

CTO

Pembroke Pines Center Turn Overpass (CTO) plans are in the works to help alleviate traffic. A CTO is an intersection that seperates left-turn movements by relocating them to an elevated structure using ramps within the median. By implementing these plans, congestion that backs up due to left hand turns will be reduced dramatically. The plans for the CTO's are looking to be implemented at the intersections of Pines Boulevard and Flamingo Road and Pines Boulevard and University Drive.

Some of the benefits of a CTO are reduced traffic, enhanced safety for both pedestrians and bicyclists, fewer vehicular conflict points, and they don't require a major reconstruction of the roadway, they can generally be constructed within an existing road right of way.

Our Public Outreach and Planning teams have been hard at work reaching out to local Pembroke Pines businesses and Homeowners Associations to spread the word and raise awareness of the plans. They have reached out to over 2,000 people by distributing a short survey to get the community's input.

The survey can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/822F7R8?fbclid=IwAR0F13gdIk6DgVkvoK66vLhgQrQy9uqcFsVWhoGDdWS2q2QOmAUatw1IWtI
