The Broward MPO was highlighted by our partners at the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for our innovative Virtual Public Involvement campaigns and outreach.
As a supplement to in person outreach and events in Broward communities, the MPO utilizes Virtual Public Involvement, primarily social media and our website, as a tool to inform the public, involve the public, include the public, and improve the public participation process. By incorporating non-traditional outreach methods to reach the traditionally underrepresented populations of Broward, we are able to communicate more effectively with those who live, work, and play in Broward and may not have the time to attend public meetings, or not have the means to attend them.
Some of the noteworthy campaigns the MPO has used on social media to boost engagement among the community are #TalkbackTuesday, #SpeakUpBroward, #FreightFriday, #MakingWaves and #2020Census just to name a few. Additionally, we continually share and repost our transportation partner's content across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
