2018 Broward Schools' STEM Day

The Broward MPO recently participated in 2018 Broward County Public Schools' Day STEM Day. We brought our transportation partners from Tri-Rail and Broward County Transit to asssit with learning labs designed to engage students and incite interest in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) related classes and careers.

The event worked with over 600 students from ages 9-15 to engage them in STEM related interactive learning labs.

Learning Labs included:

  • Mini-Catapult (Broward STEM)
  • MagLev (MPO)
  • Drones (Broward STEM)
  • Shooter Tutor (Florida Panthers)
  • Puck Pass (Florida Panthers)
  • Google Expeditions (Broward County Transit)
  • Art & Music (Applied Learning)
  • Stanley Cup (Code Ninjas)
  • Robotics (FIRSTLego)
  • Microsoft
  • EverFi
  • Robot & Drone (City of Sunrise Police)
  • Wind Tunnel (iFly Fort Lauderdale)

Our superstar team was at the MagLev (magentic levitation) Lab, a module that is part of the AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) TRAC Program. If you’re in a related career & interested in participating upcoming events, the Broward STEM team is always looking for people to get involved!
