2017 THUD Bill Includes $11 Million For Wave Streetcar

The Fiscal Year 2017 U.S. House of Representatives Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Bill includes $11.01 million dollars for the downtown Fort Lauderdale Wave Streetcar as part of the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) Small Starts Budget. After being included in President Obama's FY 2017 budget, the House Appropriations Committee included the Wave funding as well.

The Wave Streetcar is a partnership between the Broward MPO, Broward County, the City of Fort Lauderdale, the Downtown Development Authority, the Florida Department of Transportation, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA), and the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT). The 2.8 mile streetcar system will connect the Flagler Village neighborhood with Broward General Hospital, running through the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale.
