The Fort Lauderdale US1 planning study used MPO's Transportation Resiliency Framework on the segment of US1 in Fort Lauderdale, stretching from North Rio Vista Boulevard to Davie Boulevard. This comprehensive, nine-step framework, outlined below, facilitated a thorough assessment of US1 and its susceptibility to climate change. The primary goal was to gain insights into the corridor's vulnerabilities to risk and to devise a project-specific, community-driven strategy for mitigating identified vulnerabilities.
An initial review of the corridor was completed in 2024, with additional work and a preferred alternative to be developed by the summer of 2026.
The MPO is collaborating with the City of Fort Lauderdale, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and Broward County to ensure the successful execution of this initiative.
