Broward Complete Streets Program
The Broward Complete Streets initiative focuses on moving people, not cars, and design that focuses on all users, not only cyclists and pedestrians. The MPO's Complete Streets Advisory Committee (CSAC) serves at the steeriing committee for the Broward Complete Streets Program and this sounding board helps to addresss the bicycle/pedestrian needs of the region.
What are Complete Streets?
Complete streets is a concept, not a physical location or a thing. This concept focuses on moving more people with different modes, reducing congestion and benefitting all users of all ages and abilities, including walkers, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders. Complete streets play an important role in livable communities, where all people – regardless of age, ability or mode of transportation – feel safe and welcome on the roadways. A safe walking and bicycling environment is an essential part of improving public transportation and creating friendly, walkable communities.

A complete street is planned, designed, and operated for all modes of transportation and all users regardless of age or ability. Pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and motorists of all ages and abilities must be able to safely move along and across a complete street. Complete streets make it easy to cross the street, walk to shops, catch the bus, and bike to work.
Why Invest in Complete Streets?
Better Streets • Better Broward • Better Life
The Broward MPO understands the importance of creating a transportation system that addresses the needs of all users of the road, including the needs of people who walk, bike, drive and take transit.
A key part of this initiative is the Complete Streets Advisory Committee (CSAC), a sounding board comprised of different stakeholders from various industries to get feedback that will ultimately implement successful Complete Streets and create a Better Broward.
Broward Complete Streets projects seek to benefit residents, provvide safer access, enrage healthy communities through active transportationand support econoic development throughour our region. This initiative also monitors projects from planning to design (and ultimately to construction) to ensure Broward has a safe and efficient transportation network that can maintain volume, reduce speeds and conveniently accommodate all users.
