The adopted MTP may be amended prior to the next five-year update cycle in order to add, remove, or modify a transportation project in the Cost Feasible Plan. According to the Code of Federal Regulations, an amendment to the MTP "requires public review and comment and a redemonstration of fiscal constraint."
On June 11, 2020 the Broward MPO Board voted to amend the MPO Rules and established an annual MTP amendment cycle. MTP amendment requests (and supporting documentation) must be submitted to the Broward MPO by November 10 each year. This will ensure that MTP amendments have adequate time to undergo a financial constraint analysis and public review prior to being adopted by the MPO Board and included in the upcoming FDOT Work Program/Transportation Improvement Program development cycle. The annual MTP amendment cycle requires that MPO member governments and partner agencies submit formal MTP amendment requests (in writing) to the MPO for any projects to be added, deleted, or modified in the 2045 MTP. In addition, MTP amendment requests must meet the program-ready criteria (Scope of Work, Cost Estimate, Partner Collaboration, and Resolution of Support) established by the Broward MPO Board in order to be considered. Finally, MPO staff strongly recommends that member governments and partner agencies meet with the MPO as early as possible prior to submitting an MTP amendment request to ensure the proposed request meets the necessary thresholds for an MTP amendment. A timeline of the MTP Amendment process can be found below:

Regional and local plans are integral to developing a plan that reflects the needs of our planning partners. These materials were referenced and considered at specific points in the development process to ensure the solutions presented within the plan considered the diverse views and concerns pertaining to their particular transportation needs.
The best laid plans often have unexpected outcomes. Therefore, plans need to be regularly evaluated to monitor progress and, if necessary, make adjustments to ensure undesired outcomes do not develop. To ensure Commitment 2040 is successful in achieving its goals to move people, create jobs and strengthen communities, a Performance Measures Program has been implemented to assess the performance of transportation systems within Broward County.
The Performance Scorecard summaries overall performance results across four primary performance areas: mobility; connectivity and accessibility; asset management; and, safety. The Baseline Report documents the process used to develop the measures and detailed information on each measure. Click here to view.

The Broward MPO, in collaboration with the cities of Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, and Hallandale Beach, has launched a new rail safety campaign, “Don’t Risk It.” The campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of reckless behavior around trains and railroad crossings and reduce the rising accident rates in the region.
On June 8, the Broward MPO was awarded a $15.4 million grant from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). FRA Deputy Administrator Jennifer Mitchell made the announcement at the MPO’s Board of Directors meeting.
Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick joined officials from the City of Pompano Beach and the Broward MPO at the new Pompano Beach Senior Activity Center to celebrate the completion of the $21 million TIGER and announce a series of recently awarded grants that equal $30 million to help create safer roads and better transportation options.
