Infrastructure Hardening Improvement Plan

""

Introduction

Following the adoption of the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) on December 12, 2024, and the establishment of the MPO's Infrastructure Hardening Program, the MPO shifted its focus to refining the planning process for its next major MTP update. Building on those foundational efforts, the MPO initiated the Resilience Improvement Plan, now known as the Infrastructure Hardening Plan ("IHP"), in late 2024.

This initiative is an advanced tool to identify future infrastructure hardening needs by analyzing the vulnerability and criticality of Broward's transportation network. By factoring in asset criticality, the IHP gained a deeper, more holistic view of how localized infrastructure disruptions can trigger a domino effect across the entire region. Moving forward, this vital tool will be integrated directly into the MPO's MTP process. Integrating the IHP's data-driven insights into the MPO's long-range planning will make future, system-wide multimodal investments more resilient and better prepared to support the region for decades.
