On June 16th, Broward MPO Staff biked, took the BCT bus, took Tri-Rail, and carpooled to work in honor of the American Public Transportation Association's Annual Dump the Pump day.
On May 13, 2016, the Brightline (formerly known as All Aboard Florida) held a construction event at the site of the Fort Lauderdale Brightline Station, in the heart of the Broward MPO’s “Downtown Mobility Hub.”
The City of Sunrise has been selected as the host of the 2017 Safe Streets Summit. Sunrise is not only home to the New River and Hiatus Greenways, but is also the site of one of the Broward MPO’s Complete Streets demonstration projects, Sunset Strip.
The Broward MPO will hold three meetings to give the opportunity for members of the community to provide input on the draft FY 2016-17/2020-21 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The TIP is the MPO's 5 year work plan, and serves as a comprehensive list of the transportation projects happening in Broward County.
The Fiscal Year 2017 U.S. House of Representatives Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Bill includes $11.01 million dollars for the downtown Fort Lauderdale Wave Streetcar as part of the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) Small Starts Budget.
